Zoë Taylor-Crane is an intuitive crystal healer and the founder of Paper Crane Apothecary. She is also an actress, with a long recurring role as a waitress on Days Of Our Lives. She and her husband Robert Scott Crane (son of the late Bob Crane and Sigrid Valdis of Hogan’s Heroes fame) live in Los Angeles with their two sons, a cat named Miss Cleo (yes, after the psychic), three lizards: Sally, Jessy and Raphael, and a bevy of semi-tame, free-range squirrels.

What do you love most about your business?
I love knowing that my products are helping people all over the world make positive energetic shifts in their lives. It brings me such joy and a strong sense of purpose when I hear success stories from my clients.
Tell us about the journey of how you built your business. How many years did it take you to get to where you are today?
How many years did it take you to get to where you are today? It all started with a desperate attempt to get a decent night of sleep. My then almost 2 year old son still wasn’t sleeping through the night, regardless of how much lavender I diffused in his room. While researching crystals that might help him go the f*** to sleep, I encountered information on making gem elixirs. I decided to try my hand at creating a sleep elixir that I could combine with the aromatherapy I was already implementing. Thus, the prototype for my first gem-infused aromatherapy mist, Dreamcatcher, was created. Within minutes of spraying my crystal concoction, my son fell asleep and slept soundly through the night for the first time in his life. When I woke up the next morning, feeling refreshed for the first time in what felt like forever, I realized that I was on to something… I continued creating more crystal potions for friends and family, and I got so much positive feedback and encouragement that I took a leap of faith and started my Etsy shop in late 2014. While I now have clients who span the globe, and have since been featured in Vogue, goop, French Vanity Fair, The Guardian, New York Magazine and countless other publications, I still make all of my potions by hand in my backyard she-shed, which I have affectionately dubbed The Crystal Cabin.
What words of advice can you give other women entrepreneurs?
The hardest and scariest step on an entrepreneur’s journey is the first one. Don’t focus too much on the giant mountain, instead give your energy to the part of the path that is right in front of you. Rome was not built in a day, and neither are Boss Babe Empires. Take a leap of faith and go follow that dream!
