Beach Day Hydration

Beach Day Hydration

Spring is finally cranking up the heat, and sunny beach days are back on the horizon. Staying hydrated on those hot afternoons can be a challenge - here’s how to make it happen.

Stock up on coconut water

If you’re looking to add some extra flavor to your usual water routine, look no further than coconut water. Coconut water is loaded with electrolytes, which help keep you hydrated. Coconut water is also just plain delicious - it tastes like a tropical vacation in a glass. The key with coconut water is to enjoy it as fresh as possible to experience the maximum nutritional benefits on offer.

Know the signs of dehydration and set reminders to drink up

Early signs of dehydration can be subtle and include things like fatigue, getting dizzy or confused, or feeling very thirsty. Stay aware of these signs in moments when you’re likely to get distracted by the sun and sand, and set reminders in your phone to drink some water every thirty minutes to an hour.

Keep the cocktails to a minimum

There are few things on this earth more divine than dozing off on a beach chair with feet in the sand and a fruity cocktail in hand. But alcohol can increase dehydration, so you’ll want to avoid too much booze on beach days. If you really want to imbibe, drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink you have.

Snack on hydrating foods

Healthy produce like cucumbers, lettuce, bell peppers, strawberries, watermelon, peaches, and cantaloupe are all more than 85% water. You won’t want to treat them as a replacement for drinking water, but they do help you take in more H2O. Many of these snacks also include nutrients like Vitamin C and antioxidants for an added bonus! Pack them in your beach bag to enjoy all afternoon.

Don’t forget to hydrate your skin!

Spring and summer may be humid seasons, but that doesn’t mean the elements can’t still dry your face out. Moisturizing your skin won’t stave off physical dehydration, but it will keep you looking fantastic. Wear a daily moisturizer with SPF in it, or layer on moisturizer before applying sunscreen to your face each morning - and say hello to glow.

Of course, one of the most effective ways to make hydration a habit is to carry a water bottle with you. If you want to carry your bottle to the beach, try one of our blends below:
